What is Semantic CorA?

The name Semantic CorA stands for "Semantic Collaborative Corpora Analysis for Humanities and Social Sciences" and refers to a virtual research environment (VRE) developed specifically for historical educational research. Its purpose is to enable the collaborative annotation and interpretation of digital text corpora. One of the special features of Semantic CorA is that it enables the establishment of semantic connections between the digitized texts and the corresponding metadata. This so-called linked data can then serve as basis for further analysis. Thus, Semantic CorA not only provides a platform for collaboratively working with the text data, but also serves as a publication medium for further research based on such semantically linked data.

Semantic CorA can be used free of charge and is constantly being upgraded to make it even more widely usable in the future. An overview of the project can be found at https://semantic-cora.org/

General remarks on working with Semantic CorA

Semantic CorA is based on the structure of Semantic Media Wiki, i.e. working with the software is similar to editing Wiki articles. However, thanks to ready-made forms, the software can also be used by users without any previous experience in this area. Please note that due to the fact that Semantic CorA is being developed at the DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education in Germany, the software is currently only available in German. Nevertheless, the following English help pages are intended to enable also non-German speaking researchers to work with the software.

Note: Experience shows that Semantic CorA works best when used inside the Google Chrome browser.
